Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala-Kitgum
After breakfast, we leave Kampala/Hotel and travel around 452 kilometers north to Kitgum town. The drive takes us through Kampala’s congested streets and through the Luwero Triangle, which was severely devastated by the Ugandan Civil War in the 1980s. We stop in Luwero for some fruits before continuing into Nakasongola District, which is densely populated and has open savannah grasslands. We stop for lunch in Gulu before continuing on to Kitgum, where we stay at the Boma Hotel.
Day 2: Kitgum Town—Kidepo Valley National Park
After breakfast, we drove for around 2-3 hours to Kidepo Valley National Park, passing through Kakwanga and Loitanit villages before entering the park. We rest by our lodge/UWA Bandas, eat lunch, and plan an evening game drive with full parking.
Return in the evening for an overnight stay at Apoka Lodge/UWA Bandas.
Day 3: Full day at Kidepo Valley National Park.
After breakfast, we go on a game drive, return for lunch, and then return to the game trails for an afternoon game safari.
Dinner and stay at UWA Bandas or Apoka Lodge.
Day 4: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park.
After breakfast, we drive through Kitgum, Gulu for lunch, and then through Karuma, stopping in Murchison Falls before driving through the game trails for even more opportunities at the animals.
Check into the Paraa Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Game drive and boat trip along the Victoria Nile.
Breakfast is served early, followed by a four-hour game drive through Murchison Falls National Park. It’s another fantastic morning to be only a few meters away from the Antelopes, Giraffes, Jackson’s heartbeasts, Warthogs, Jackals, Elephants, Lions, and Hippos at the Hippo Pool for breakfast.
Return at 11:00 a.m. and proceed to our lodge for freshening up and lunch.
We board a boat at 2:00 p.m. and begin a three-hour cruise on the Victoria Nile, where we will see huge Nile Crocodiles, Buffaloes, Hippos, and a variety of birds. You will also be shown Ernest Hemingway’s crash location.
Overnight at the Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day 6: Return to Kampala/Entebbe Airport.
Early morning wildlife drive, crossing the ferry, visiting the top of the falls, rhino tracking at the sanctuary, and returning to Kampala.
End of six-day safari in Kilimanjaro and Murchison Falls.
